These activities are aimed at: GROUP SOLIDARITY 1. promoting friendships, exchange of cultural experiences and solidarity among women of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds; 2. The Group endeavours to share success or birth of a child but, also comfort those members who may become ill, bereaved or in need of any other assistance; 3. The mother Group UNWG has now formed a Family Issues Committee (See index) which facilitates direct access to medical and legal counsel. FUNDRAISING 1. working together to develop new ideas and opportunities for raising funds for the benefit of the disadvantaged women and children of the African continent; 2. organising at least four fund–raising events each year, one of which coincides with the UNWG Bazaar that takes place every year in November; 3. organise it’s celebrated “Dinner Dance” every alternative year, which is hosted in the premises of one of the Rome based UN agencies. This “Dinner Dance”, attracts a wide participation of international staff of these agencies together with their Italian colleagues and friends who buy tickets to attend this function; 4. finance micro projects in Africa from funds raised in the above events, through project proposals submitted by the members via a prescribed form,; 5. mobilise efforts and resources to respond to the UNWG call for relief
assistance on occasions of humanitarian crises caused by natural or man–made
emergencies thus going beyond its regional focus.
